1 · Choose your raw DNA file

23andMe, AncestryDNA, FamilyTreeDNA, MyHeritage, LivingDNA or a WGS Extract kit. The .txt, .csv, .zip or .gz file you downloaded from the testing company.

Tested with more than one company? You can add those kits too, one at a time or all at once: different chips read different markers, so two kits cover more of the reference than either alone. They are still read only on this device.

Processing happens on this device. The file is read in your browser, compared with about 237,000 reference SNPs, and reduced to 64 numbers. Only those 64 numbers are sent, after you choose a product, and they can't be turned back into your DNA data.
